|  Canada's Only Primary Silver Producer Alexco owns and operates the Bellekeno silver mine, Canada's only operating primary silver mine and one of the world's highest-grade silver mines with a production grade of up to 1,000 grams per tonne. The Company owns 100% of the historical Keno Hill Silver District, located in Canada's Yukon Territory. The Bellekeno mine is located in this District, and it produced 2.02 million ounces of silver during 2011. Alexco is rapidly exploring other promising high-grade silver prospects throughout its Keno Hill holdings. Two more mines are in development with production targeted to commence by the end of 2012, and for the 2012 exploration season the Company will invest $12 million on a 29,000 meter surface and underground drilling program spanning the District. Alexco's goal is to identify 100 million ounces of silver resources in this prospective District, and ramp up to more than 7 million ounces of annual silver production within the next decade. Through its Alexco Environmental Group (AEG), a rapidly growing and profitable environmental services business, Alexco holds the contract to remediate environmental impacts from past mining in the Keno Hill District, in partnership with the Canadian government and the First Nations. This unique business model allowed Alexco to obtain the mineral and mining rights to the entire Keno Hill area and identify the best prospects for future production, while simultaneously enabling it to responsibly manage the reclamation of this historical mining District. AEG supplies mine-related environmental services to government and industry clients in Canada, the U.S. and elsewhere through North and South America and overseas. With a strong conviction in the tremendous exploration potential of the Keno Hill Silver District, a fast-track approach to construction, no financial debt, and a unique business model utilizing both its environmental and mining expertise, Alexco is on track to become a major Canadian silver producer. | |
